Salomon quest 4d 3 gtx rating11/30/2023 Others found the Scarpa much more comfortable than a traditional mountain boot. While Scarpa makes comfortable shoes and boots, some reviewers found the stiffness can result in some foot soreness after a long day of trekking. This makes it more versatile for all-mountain use while still having a technical and precise feel. The Scarpa Zodiac Plus is a more flexible take on their Zodiac Tech, which is more of a mountaineering boot. Related: The Best Winter Traction Devices (Microspikes + Crampons)Īs a boot that verges on being a mountaineering boot, the Zodiac is stiffer than others we considered. If you know you want a traditional hiking boot with all the support, stability, and cushioning that comes with it, we found the Salomon Quest 4 to be the expert and everyday user favorite boot in the category. If you like the fit of Salomon shoes, but want a lighter boot closer to a trail runner, consider the low top Salomon X Ultra 4 GORE-TEX Hiking Shoes ( men's and women's), the top pick in our Best Hiking Shoes story, or the Salomon X Ultra 4 Mid GORE-TEX ( men’s and women’s) in our Best Lightweight Hiking Bootsstory. It's worth noting that the Salomon Quest 4 is a middle-weight boot and might be too much boot for some users. These reviews get an A-rating from Fakespot, a website that analyzes customer reviews to flag fake comments. The Quest 4 is a favorite with Amazon's customers, garnering nearly 200 reviews, 79% of which are 5-star reviews. Outdoor media has similar things to say about the Quest: "Salomon footwear has a well-earned reputation for offering excellent water-resistance while remaining breathable, and this model lives up to the expectations set by its trail runner cousins," observes Outdoor Gear Lab (see Sources), which also named it their top pick.Ĭustomer reviewers from REI, Amazon, and Backcountry also raved about this backpacking boot. The two adjustment zone lacing system makes the Salomons among the most comfortable boots right out of the box. Our testers liked the Salomon Quest's model's lacing system, which essentially gives it two independent adjustment zones: one for the foot, the other for the ankle. (To be fair, most hiking-specific boots aren't designed for this.) The EVA midsole provides excellent shock absorption. This made it great for getting over obstacles, but not ideal for climbing on difficult, slabby rock. The sole is grippy, if not a little squishier than expected. The boot is easily adjustable right out of the box. Material rises high on the ankle giving great protection from wet and mud, and everything in that area is anatomically shaped and cushioned, with the result being decent levels of comfort and no blisters on our walks. In our testing, we found, like other Salomon trail shoes, that the Quest 4 fit is excellent. The lower section runs so smoothly that it's super easy to tighten and there's a locking eyelet at the flex zone between the foot and ankle so the fit you've dialled in at the bottom stays the fit throughout your walk. The lacing system is a highlight - it's one of the best we've used. The toe box gives the toes room to comfortably splay and the heel is effectively locked into the boot, reducing chances of blisters. We didn't find these quite as narrow as other Salomon footwear but you definitely need to size up from your usual size by at least half - best to try before you buy. Grip across other terrain like mud and loose gravel is nothing short of confidence inspiring. Salomon's Contagrip outsole has lacked grip on greasy rocks and tree roots in the past, but the version on the Quest 4D 3 seems rock solid (excuse the pun) easily competing with most other walking boots. The Ortholite insole is also fairly well cushioned and does the job, but for more customised foot support our advice is always to go for an aftermarket insole. Having said that the balance between stability and feeling lithe and bouncy is just fine, and fatigue doesn't set in prematurely purely because of the boots. They feel pretty neutral to walk in, there isn't the pronounced roll that you feel in some boots and they aren't quite as springy as some of the more lightweight offerings. They loosen up a tad but still retain an element of stiffness across the sole which helps them to work excellently in challenging terrain including scrambling. In use the Quest 4D 3 GTX feels a little stiff to start with - which is to be expected. What they do perfectly is strike a middle ground between build and weight, making them suitable for most walkers - in fact the only people that won't appreciate them are fast and light converts who go dancing around the hills in trail running shoes and dog walkers who are just looking for something waterproof.

Wild babies narrator11/30/2023 Thus, begins a wild adventure for mom, dad and the kids. "Yes, so we'll hire a not good nanny! For cheap!" says father. "But aren't good nannies expensive?" wonders mom. They love the plan but fear the children will destroy the house. Cannibals will feast on them unless they freeze in glacial ice." They create a travel brochure from the Reprehensible Travel Agency - No Children Allowed! - and make sure the folks see it. If they do not melt in the hottest places on Earth, they shall drown in the wettest. Tim concocts a "a romantic getaway hiding deadly orphaning opportunities. "What if we orphaned ourselves? We shall craft a murderous adventure that gives our insidious parents exactly what they want." "To be left alone with their love!" says Jane. So the kids hatch a plan to create a better life for themselves. "Let's face it this Willoughby family isn't great," says the narrator, "and by the looks of it, they never will be. Thank you."Īll they gave Tim was their name, and siblings Jane (Alessia Cara) and twins, both named Barnaby (Sean Cullen). "If you need love, I beg of you, find it elsewhere. "I am your father and that woman in there you insulted with your rude burp is your mother," father says to eldest son Tim (Will Forte). Madly in love, they only have eyes for one another. "Their greatness passed down from generation to generation like their magnificent facial hair," says the narrator, "until this one." Enter the youngest son (Martin Short) and his new bride (Jane Krakowski). The family has a long and distinguished legacy of tradition, invention, creativity and courage. Get over it, yeah." - the story takes place at the Willoughby mansion, a home tucked away between two skyscrapers, hidden from the modern world. Narrated by Ricky Gervais - "I'm the narrator. Yet somehow, a happy ending and a lesson or two always emerge from the chaos. Based on a book by Lois Lowry, "The Willoughbys," a new animated film now available on Netflix, is a parody of "old fashioned" classic children's stories where terrible things happen, babies are abandoned, long-lost relatives show up and nannies look after the kids.

German adjective endings chart11/29/2023 What about our 3 exception spots when dealing with indefinite articles? The same final letters on the various ‘the’s and ‘a’s are the same letters you see listed under the in the All-In-One Chart. Now, look again at the definite articles and indefinite articles charts with this new All-In-One Chart below them for easy reference. All-In-One Chart Combines Both Articles Charts! There is much more that the two conventional charts (and the other 8 I mentioned!) have in common than not - that’s why we can combine the charts into one that simply has 3 exception spots. There are only 3 spots (<– out of 16, not bad!) when that isn’t the case, in the: That’s it! As a rule, the very last letter of each version of ‘the’ and each version of ‘a’ is the same. Can you see the similarities and differences? Definite & Indefinite Articles Charts, Comparedįirst, compare the definite & indefinite articles charts to each other. All our bases are covered and you’ve got a solid foundation in German that doesn’t involve 10 mind-numbing, overwhelming, unnecessary charts. That means that it’s possible to combine them all and just mention a handful of special exceptions. The good news is that all these charts have much more in common than not. So, imagine the two conventional articles charts from above … but with another 8 charts on top of them with just itty bitty changes that somehow you have to remember.Īre you feeling overwhelmed yet? I hear ya. Mixed Adjectives (with ein-word Determiners) You’d have all these charts thrown at you: You could insert a ‘k-‘ in front of any form of ‘ein-‘ in the rest of the table to have the correct form of ‘not a / an / any’ for the other genders / cases!) Articles, the smarter wayĪs you’ve gotten a taste of with the conventional definite articles and indefinite articles charts above, traditionally, German students are introduced to lots and lots of separate charts for all the various words that come in front of nouns (the technical term for these words is modifiers). (NOTE: of course, one can’t say ‘a / an’ in front of a plural noun, but I’ve included a plurals column with the word ‘kein’ so that you can still see the declensions in the plural. You can see how these indefinite articles change - just like the definite ones - based on the gender & case of the noun they are preceding (coming in front of). Similarly, the many ways of saying ‘a’ in German are usually taught with this chart: case (nominative, accusative, dative, or genitive).gender (masculine, feminine, neuter, or plural). The way you say ‘the’ changes based on the noun’s… This is how the definite articles are conventionally taught. How to say ‘the’ and ‘a’ changes based on the gender & case of the noun that follows! What do I mean with “all the different ways to say …”? Indefinite articles is “grammar-speak” for ‘a’ - all the different ways of saying ‘a’ in German. Definite articles in German are just the collection of different ways to say ‘the’.

Easy way to show negative and positive rules11/29/2023 White, Community College on October 3, 1997:Ībout that question: why is a negative number times a negative number After this demonstration, students used negative numbers in their algebra with understanding.įrom my experience at Cosumnes River Elementary Schoolĭo you have a place to make comments like these?īuzz you for your comments I have placed them as followup commentsįollowup question by Ms. Again the students cheered realizing that subtracting 2 red checkers three times was like adding six to the balance sheet. I then subtracted 2 red checkers three times from the next student. After just one example, all the students cheered in unison with the joy of understanding subtracting negative numbers. For each red checker (-$1) subtracted, the students realized their balance increased by $1. After each example, I had the student recalculate their balance. I went from student to student, taking back (subtracting) n red checkers. I then advised the students that my accounting had been wrong and I had incorrectly given each student more red checkers than I should have given them. They excitedly calculated their respective balances. I owed them a dollar, and for each red checker they owed me a dollar. The red checkers represented (hypothetically) their wrong answers. I announced that the blacks (hypothetically) represented each correct answer the student had given during the class. I randomly handed students each a bunch of red and black checkers. Crazy taxi 411/29/2023 IGN Staff, Crazy Taxi (Dreamcast) Review The core gameplay in the series has been praised as being "deceptively complex" as stated by the IGN staff for their review of the Dreamcast version of Crazy Taxi: Īs you progress through the game's ratings scale by picking up and delivering passengers as quickly as possible, you will slowly but surely realize that there is much more to the game than getting from point a to b. The various passengers scattered throughout the city will randomly appear and disappear throughout the game, but once one is picked up that passenger is unavailable for the rest of that game. The game cannot be played indefinitely while there are hundreds of potential passengers to pick up and deliver, there are only a limited number of fares in the game. Unlike other arcade games, the player cannot continue from where the previous game ended. Once the main clock reaches zero, the game is over, and the player is ranked and rated based on the total earned. The game continues in this mode as long as time remains on the main clock. If the passenger's countdown strikes zero, he/she will exit the taxi without paying and the player will be required to look for another fare. If the destination is reached in time, the player is paid based on distance driven with a possible time bonus based on how quickly the destination was reached. The player can use special "crazy stunt" moves such as drifts, jumps, and near-misses, and consecutive combos of these, to earn extra money from the passenger during the trip. While a passenger is in the taxi, a large green arrow is shown on the player's HUD that points in the general direction of the passenger's destination to help guide the player through the map. Furthermore, a second countdown timer is started, representing how quickly the passenger needs to be at their destination. When a passenger is picked up, the player is awarded additional time on the countdown clock. The color marker ranges from red indicating short trips, to yellow for intermediate distances, and to green indicating long ones. Passengers looking for rides are indicated by an overhead marker that is colored to represent the distance to their intended destination. The player must perform this while time still remains on an overall gameplay clock. The player controls one of several taxi drivers in a fictional city, looking for fares and then taking them to their destination in the fastest time possible. The player can earn extra tips by pulling off stunts.Ĭrazy Taxi and its sequels are score attack games that all employ the same fundamental rules and mechanics. The player follows the on-screen arrow to deliver the passenger to his/her destination before the main time (upper left) and the passenger timer (green number in center) runs out. The image of the passenger's destination is shown to the left, while another potential passenger is shown in the background (with a "$" symbol over his/her head). Gameplay The player picks up a passenger in Crazy Taxi. The core gameplay mechanic has been patented by Sega, leading to at least one lawsuit over similar gameplay in The Simpsons: Road Rage, which has since been settled out of court. The franchise has been recognized for its innovative gameplay design which is easy to learn but difficult to master, its use of in-game advertising, and its soundtrack music provided by the bands The Offspring and Bad Religion. The game was later ported to the PlayStation 2, GameCube, and IBM PC compatibles with sequels also appearing on the Xbox, Game Boy Advance, and PlayStation Portable systems.Įach game has the player assume the role of a taxi driver who must accumulate money by delivering passengers to their destinations in the fastest time possible, earning tips by performing "crazy stunts" before the time runs out. It is the third best-selling Dreamcast game in the United States, selling over a million copies. It was first available as an arcade video game in 1999, then released for the Dreamcast console in 2000. Crazy Taxi is a series of racing games developed by Hitmaker and published by Sega.

Nba western conference forwards11/29/2023 There were far fewer 20-point seasons put up by centers (55), but the vast majority of them (82%) ended up as All-Star seasons there were also 71 lower-scoring seasons that made a center into an All-Star. There were 203 individual 20-point seasons scored at the two forward positions, 127 (63%) of them garnered an All-Star bid. There were many more 20-point seasons turned in by shooting guards (133), but the same percentage of these seasons (67%) were deemed All-Star worthy only 29 lower-scoring seasons got a shooting guard to the All-Star Game. There were 58 individual 20-point seasons posted by point guards, 39 (67%) of these earned an All-Star nod 59 lower-scoring seasons also earned a point guard some All-Star recognition. Each square is a 20 point-per-game season and each circle is an All-Star selection. Each vertical line is a season from 1996 to 2016 (excluding 1999). Each horizontal line is an individual player. In the plot above, the players are once again sorted by position using the same five colors as before. Here’s a more detailed look at who averaged 20 points and who was an All Star, season-by-season, for the past 20 years. Read More: Is Russell Westbrook padding his rebounding numbers at the free throw line?Ī large fraction of the 20-point players were named All Stars, especially over the course of the past four seasons or so. Big-time scoring centers are rare and have been for some time for example, there weren’t any 20-point centers in 2013. On the flipside, there were fewer 20-point shooting guards (5) and power forwards (2) than at other times in the recent past. There are a few trends worth noting: firstly, in 2016, there were more point guards (7) averaging 20 points per game than any time in the past 20 years. The graphs below show the number of players who averaged 20 points per game for each season, by position (on the left) as well as the percent of those 20-point scorers who were named to the All-Star Game (on the right). Let’s leave aside the fact that Rose is definitely NOT averaging 20 points per game (17.5) and the fact that he’s definitely NOT an All-Star…the question got me thinking: is scoring 20 points a night sufficient to qualify a player as an All Star? 20 years of All-Star selectionsįrom 1996 to 2016 - excluding 1999, when there was no All-Star Game due to a condensed schedule - 449 players averaged 20 points per game. Then he says, “I can’t believe D-Rose is averaging 20 points per game this season. He’s talking about Kristaps Porzingis and I’m still with him, mostly agreeing. He’s talking about Carmelo Anthony and I’m following along, nodding. So, the other day, I’m waiting for my submarine sandwich and we start chatting about All-Star voting. The kind of guy who agreed with Derrick Rose - “they ARE a super team!” No trace of irony.
